GENERAL

01. Can I try a sample before I buy?

We are doing everything we can to make Harmony available as soon as possible. Our product still needs to go through some regulatory approvals before we launch, and we do not have total control over the time that it may require. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide samples at the moment, but we encourage you to join the Harmony waitlist to stay updated on our progress toward making our formula available.

02. How much formula is in each container?

Each can of formula will contain 400g / 14.1oz of formula powder.

03. Where is Harmony located?

Right now, our business operations are based in Massachusetts and our labs are in New York City, Ireland, and Brazil. Our formula will be available throughout the USA after it gains regulatory approval, and we are already working to expand to more countries across the globe soon thereafter.

04. What are the ingredients?

We are in the process of finalizing our formula right now and we would love to hear your input on the matter! What kind of ingredients do you want to see on a top quality baby formula like Harmony and why? What ingredients would you not want to see? We would also like to encourage you to join Harmony’s waitlist so you can stay up to date on the ingredients and our progress toward becoming available down the road.

05. If breast is best, then why even create a formula?

Breastfeeding is always the best option to feed an infant, but sometimes mothers need to supplement their breastfeeding with formulas in order to meet their baby’s dietary needs. It could be due to low supply, the baby’s allergies, situational causes, personal preference, or a variety of other reasons. There is no shame in not being able to breastfeed your baby entirely, but it does mean that you will have to find the best alternative solution. Harmony’s goal is not to replace breastfeeding, but we do want to be there as an amazing alternative solution for parents in need.

06. Milk is milk. How is a human based solution better than a cow based solution?

Every mammal species produces milk that contains all of the nutrients needed for a baby of their own species, and babies of different species have different nutritional requirements. Cow’s milk alone will not be able to sustain a human infant, just as human milk would not be able to sustain a calf. Replacing cow’s milk with human breast milk proteins as the basis of our formula means that it will match the nutritional requirements that an infant needs to grow and develop much more than the cow based alternatives currently available.

07. Breast milk cannot be created, so why are you trying to make a formula out of it?

You are correct. Replicating breast milk in its entirety is way beyond current scientific capabilities. However, by producing the most important breast milk proteins and replacing cow’s milk as the basis of our formula, we are taking a large step closer to replicating breast milk than the other alternatives currently available to parents.

08. When will Harmony be available?

We are doing everything we can to make Harmony available as soon as possible. Our product still needs to go through some regulatory approvals and clinical trials before we launch, and we do not have total control over the time that it may require. We encourage you to join the Harmony waitlist to stay updated on our progress toward making our formula available.

09. Where do you source your milk?

To get our human breast milk proteins, we use a technology called precision fermentation. We use a special kind of microflora that is prepared to naturally produce human breast milk proteins. We then remove the microflora and use the pure breast milk proteins as the base of our baby formula. This is the same biotechnology that has been used to safely produce drugs like insulin to treat diabetes for over 30 years.

10. How much will a can of Harmony cost?

A. At this point, we are not sure of the exact price, but we can tell you that it will be priced similarly to other hypoallergenic formulas that are already on the market.

COW'S MILK ALLERGY

01. Is Harmony’s formula good for babies with CMPA/FPIES/G6PD/other allergies?

Since Harmony uses human breast milk compounds, it is absent of the allergenic proteins found in cow’s milk based products.

02. What are common food allergies among infants?

The most common allergies among infants are cow’s milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, fish, and shellfish. It is possible to be allergic to just about any food, but this list is the main ones to look out for.

03. Can breastfeeding trigger allergies?

Yes. Although the contents of breast milk does not trigger allergic reactions, mothers pass things they take in from their environment to their baby through breast milk. While this is excellent for building the baby’s immune system, if the mother is consuming things that the baby is allergic to, such as cow’s milk, those allergens will be present in her breast milk, causing an allergic reaction in the baby.

04. What are the current options for cow’s milk allergic babies?

There are a few nutrition options currently available to babies with cow’s milk allergy (CMA), and all of them have their own drawbacks. One option is soy formula, which uses soy as the basis for many of the nutrients usually provided by cow’s milk. Soy also contains phytoestrogen, a hormone very similar to human estrogen, and it can cause hormonal issues as the babies grow. Additionally, many babies that are allergic to cow’s milk will also be allergic to soy. Another option is hydrolyzed formula, which is cow’s milk formula that has the proteins broken down to a more digestible state. This is helpful for digestion and limiting allergic reactions, but not helpful for nutrition, as the baby is not consuming whole proteins and their stomach will get used to only consuming broken down proteins if they consume hydrolyzed formula for an extended period of time. There are also amino acid formulas, which are essentially a more extreme version of hydrolyzed formula. Rather than proteins, they contain only the amino acids that make up the proteins, like puzzle pieces that are not put together. This is extremely hypoallergenic, but much less nutritious and has a taste and odor many babies will not tolerate. Part of the reason Harmony was created in the first place was to provide a better solution for allergic babies without the drawbacks.

05. How come Harmony does not trigger allergies?

The proteins in human breast milk are designed by nature to be easily digested by infants and they do not trigger allergic reactions. Since Harmony’s formula uses the same, easily digestible proteins as breast milk, it does not trigger allergic reactions either.

06. What are allergies?

Allergic reactions occur when the immune system tries to combat foreign substances that most people do not usually react to (such as pollen, pet dander, or certain foods) as if a virus were coming into the body.
